Show how you know (5, 6.5) is or is not a solution to the equation y = -1/2x + 9 above.

You would insert your coordinates to see if it is a solution. 

x=5 y=6.5 So your new equation is 

6.5 = -1/2(5)+9

This is a solution because -1/2(5) is equal to -2.5, and then -2.5 + 9 is equal to 6.5
