Respuesta :

The process of photosynthesis occurs when green plants use the energy of light to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) into carbohydrates. Light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll, a photosynthetic pigment of the plant, while air containing carbon dioxide and oxygen enters the plant through the leaf stomata.
Oseni

Light excites photosystems in chlorophyll, carbon dioxide is fixed to yield carbohydrates, and water is used to supply electrons.

Reactions of photosynthesis

The reactions of photosynthesis are divided into 2:

  • Light-dependent
  • Light-independent

During light-dependent reactions, light energy excites electrons in the photosystem of chlorophyll molecules leading to the liberation of electrons.  Electrons generated from the splitting of water molecules fill the space left by the liberated electrons from the photosystem.

The products of light-dependent reactions are used to fix carbon dioxide into carbohydrates in light-independent or dark reactions.
