Multiply the numbers (2*2=4)
[tex]=\frac{-7+\sqrt{7^2-4\cdot \:2\left(-5\right)}}{2\cdot \:2}[/tex]

Apply the rule
[tex]\sqrt{7^2+2\cdot \:4\cdot \:5}[/tex]

7^2 =49
[tex]=\sqrt{49+2\cdot \:4\cdot \:5}[/tex]

Multiply
[tex]\sqrt{49+40}[/tex]

Add
[tex]\sqrt{89}[/tex]

[tex]=\frac{-7-\sqrt{89}}{4}[/tex]

Final solution:
[tex]x=\frac{-7+\sqrt{89}}{4},\:x=\frac{-7-\sqrt{89}}{4}[/tex]
