Write and solve an equation of ratios:

5 65

--- = ------

4 x

Then 5x = 260, or x = 52. There are 52 girls on the team. Note, as a check, that 65/52 reduces to 5/4, as it must.

52 because the ratio needs to be equal so I found out what was 65/5 and I got 13 so I then did 13 times 4 and got 52 which makes 65:52 equivalent to 5:4
