8(x+1) - 3(x+4) = 7(2-x)
8x +8 - 3x + 12 = 14 - 7x
5x + 20 = 14-7x
Subtract 5x from both sides
20=14 - 12x
Subtract 14 from both sides
6 = -12x
Divide each side by -12
-.5 =x
