if the line is perpendicular the slope is the negative reciprocal

1/8 becomes -8

point slope form

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y--5 = -8(x-1)

y+5 = -8x+8

subtract 5 from each side

y = -8x +3

this is in slope intercept form
