The answer is 3., but 1. is VERY close to the correct answer.  1. is incorrect, because the sun's rays do not slant, but the Earth does.

The poles have the coldest climates on earth because the sun’s ray fall most directly on the equator, not on the poles.

EXPLANATION:

  • The poles are the place that doesn’t receive the direct sun rays even in the summer season.
  • The sun is always near to the equator and hence equator is hot and has larger temperature than polar region. In winter season the day light falls only some hours in Polar Regions.
