A firefighter paramedic responds to fires and medical emergencies. Most firefighters have a valid EMT ( Emergency Medical Technician ) certification which means they can assist with emergency medical help during a fire or a fire related emergency. An emergency medical technician is not allowed to enter an emergency where fire is involved and an emergency medical responder provides medical help only. A dispatcher takes emergency calls and sends medical/fire forces to the place of an emergency.
