You have a standard deck of cards. You pick one card from the deck and then, without putting the first card back, pick a second card. What is the probability that both cards will be 9's?

Respuesta :

In a standard deck of cards, there are 52. There is 1 card per suit (ace, diamonds, spades, clubs) In other words, there are 4 9's. In the whole deck, there is about an 8% chance you would pull a 9 on the first try and only a 6% chance that you would pull a 9 on the second try. (The probability for pulling all cards is about the same, but by pulling a card you increase the probability of pulling another card and decrease the probability of pulling the same card)
