When fighting an infection, more of white blood cells will be expected because they help the body fight against infections.

White blood cells also called leucocyte functions mainly in the body to fight against infections. This means that the deficiency of white blood cells which may be caused by diseases and cancerous cell treatment or vitamin deficiency in the body may result in a person being vulnerable to infection.

Therefore, if an individual is fighting an infection, more white blood cells will be expected as it's function is to fight against infection.
