Answer:

Ionic bonds are formed between metals and nonmetals. The compatability of the metals and nonmetals is what makes them have a neutral charge as they cancel each other.

Eg: Using sodium chloride.

Na+ + Cl- > a neutral compound of NaCl without charges.
