the texans didn't like the new law. So Stephen F. Austin tried to calm the texans down, but instead, he protested the law to the commissioner and the mexican president Anastasio Bustamante. By manipulating some of the law's articles, Stephen F. Austin was exempted from the law for his contract and for Green DeWitt's as well.
