What does y and c equal if y=2c+3 and y=-2x-3

I don't understand, is "x" in "y = -2x-3" the multiplication sign or a variable?

Ok so 2c+3 = 2x-3

2c = 2x-6

c = x-3

I think that's the answer not exactly sure the question
