Please Help! 3. A rectangular prism has dimensions of 1/2 , 2, and 7/2 in.
(a) How many cubes with side lengths of 1 in. will fit into the prism? Explain.
(b) How many cubes with side lengths of in. will fit into the prism? Explain.
a. realisically, a cube with side length1 can't fit since 1>1/2 and the cube would stick out but, if they wanted us to melt the cube or something find volume of prism and divide that by th evolume of the cube
volume prism=1/2 times 2 times 7/2=7/2 cubic inches volume cube=side^3=1^3=1 so 7/2/1=7/2 7/2 or 3.5 cubes can fit
b. 1/2 is the side lenght so cuube volume1/2^3=1/8 (7/2)/(1/8)=(7/2)(8/1)=56/2=28 28 cubes can fit
