How does a digit in the ten thousands place compare to a digit in the thousands place

Well technically they mean nothing to each other in a sense. But for a purpose the digit in the Ten Thousands place holds a stronger/higher value. Meaning that the number in the Ten Thousands place is worth more than a number in the Thousands place.
