since y=x+10 put it in the equation below
2(x+10)=3x+7 now expand
2x+20=3x+7 put the x's on a side and the others on the right side and change signs
2x-3x= 7 - 20
-x=-13
the negatives cancel eachother so its x = 13
So let y=x+10 and we know 2y=-3x+7. Substitute y=x+10 for y in 2y=-3x+7
Doing so we have
2(x+10)=-3x+7
Using distributive property we get
2x+20=-3x+7
Adding 3x to both sides we get
5x+20=7
Subtracting 7 from both sides we get
5x=-13 then dividing 5 on both sides we get
x=-13/5
Substituting this in for y=x+10 we get
y=-13/5+10
Which gives you y=37/5
So the solution is x=-13/5 and y=37/5 or the ordered pair
(-13/5,37/5)
Hope this helps!!!
