Use the distance formula 

here distance =  sqrt [(6-4)^2 + (-8-(-6)^2)]

                     = sqrt ( 2^2 + (-2)^2) = sqrt  8
                  
                    =  2 sqrt2  or  2.83 to nearest hundredth
