How did italy's geography helped the rise of rome?

It was close to the Italian peninsula, allowing it to be in a good place for benefiting in trade within Italy. It also benefited from trade because it was built at a good place to ford the tiber river. The river were unnavigable so it protected Rome from its enemies.
