Evaluate -a - 12a 2 for a = -1

The answer is -11
You put "-1" in place of all the "a"s and get 
-(-1) - 12(-1)^2
-(-1) is just 1, and (-1)^2 is "1"
We are then left with 1-12(1) which is 1-12 which is -11
