The statement that many of the sculptures created in Polynesia are not clearly male or female is true. The main goal of the Polynesian sculpture was to present gods, deities or a ancestral hero. They were sometimes made free standing but are also often found as part of a object: top of a fly whisk. The Polynesiam sculptures could be found in different sizes:  from very small charms made to monumental sizes made to be displayed outside a ceremonial enclosure.
