NEVER Assume that they are kidding! 

You aren't a real friend if you DARE THEM TO GO THROUGH WITH IT

If you don't tell anyone, they might take their life

I understand it might break their trust, but an adult needs to be notified so they can receive the proper help so that they can feel better!!!
