lets x = height of the pole
tan(44)  = x/140
so
x = 140 * tan(44)
x = 135.2

answer
C. 135 ft

----------------

c^2 = 14^2 + 2^1 = 196 + 2 = 200

c = 14.1 mph

Tan(x) = 2/14

       x = 8.13 degrees

the speed is 14.1 mph and 8.13 degrees south of west

answer is C. 14.1 mph, 8 degrees south of west
