Litmus paper is an example of an indicator because it changes color. The definition of an indictaor is "a compound that changes color at a specific pH value or in the presence of a particular substance and can be used to monitor acidity, alkalinity, or the progress of a reaction." Because it changes color to measure acidity and akalinity, it is an indicator.
